The three migration phases
1. Cloud Readiness Assessment
Assessment of all workloads, dependencies, compliance requirements and realistic cost estimates. Without an assessment, any migration plan is guesswork.
2. Landing Zone & Architecture
Design of the cloud foundation: account organization, networking (VPC, peering, Direct Connect/Interconnect), IAM, security policies and observability. This step determines whether operations will be healthy in the long run.
3. Wave Migration
Execution in waves prioritized by criticality and dependencies. Each wave has clear rollback criteria and validation before going to production.
